  • Gas Safe register for Gas Fireplaces

From 1st April 2009 if you are having gas work done in your home or workplace you should use a Gas Safe registered engineer.

The Gas Safe Register is the national watchdog for gas saftey in the UK it exists to protect you, your family, and your property from dangerous gas work. Incorrectly fitted, badly repaired or poorly maintained gas appliances are a major cause of lethal carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, and can also lead to gas leaks and explosions. To carry out work on gas installations and appliances safely and legally, engineers in Great Britain and the Isle of Man must be on the Gas Safe Register. We make sure the 120,000 engineers on the register are safe by inspecting the gas work they have carried out.

  • OFTEC

Oftec is the oil firing technical association for the petroleum industry, the installation of an oil fired appliance should be carried out by an oftec registered engineer. The Oil Firing Technical Association (OFTEC) was launched in April 1991 to construct a framework within which oil firing in the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland could operate with a greater degree of technical expertise and efficiency. All Oftec installers are able to certify their own work so there is no need to notify local authority building control when installing an oil fired appliance.
